Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee tea
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.
In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life?

My 12-Month #GoTheDist Summary

Or in my case, 553.89 miles.

October — 120.16 (exceeded goal)
November — 35.8
December — 49.5
January — 20.13
February — 102.1 (exceeded goal)
March — 103.7 (exceeded goal)
April — 0 (rut roh)
May — 27
June — 10
July — 10
August — 21.5
September — 54

As you can see, there were good months and bad months (things got hard as I tried to balance boxing and running). BUT... That is the most miles I've ever run in a year.  Heck, it's probably more miles than I've run in the previous 29 years of my life combined.

In other words. VICTORY!! I can't wait to see what I can do in the next 12 months (or rather, the next three and then... the NEW YEAR).

  1. I'm so glad I saw your link on Twitter today. I have been in a ruT with running lately (call it my "April") and it is so important to take a step back and look at it like this as a whole.
I may not have run all the miles I set out to run at the beginning of the year- but I didn't give up completely (like the past) and I didn't sit idle doing nothing else. Celebrate! Great Job!

  2. Lola: Ruts happen -- but I think when you're in an overall good mindset, you have the tools to dig yourself out. #GoTheDist was always my tool. I knew I had people with me every step of the way. And you're right -- my target was over 1000, but 554 is not bad.

Soo *Wink wink nod nod* wanna run with us?
